Questions About Medicare

Whether Medicare starts automatically or requires an active sign-up depends in part on when you begin receiving Social Security retirement or disability benefits. If you start receiving Social Security benefits at least 4 months before turning 65, you will generally be enrolled automatically in Medicare Part A and Part B when you turn 65. If you are waiting to claim benefits or your situation is different, you may need to contact Social Security to sign up. You will still have important coverage decisions to make, including whether prescription drug coverage fits your needs.

To get Medicare Part A and Part B benefits or join a Medicare health or drug plan, Medicare says you must be a U.S. citizen or national, a lawful permanent resident, a Cuban-Haitian entrant, or a Compact of Free Association migrant. Eligibility details can depend on your situation, so confirm the requirements with Medicare or Social Security before making an enrollment decision.

Start with what you want this coverage to help with and what you have today. Understand your choices with calm, one-to-one guidance. A personal review can help you organize the details that matter before you decide.

Compare the benefits, cost, limits, provider or carrier access, and policy rules that matter to your situation. I will help you focus on the differences that are most relevant to you.

Request a review whenever your needs change, you have questions, or you want to prepare before making a coverage decision. Enrollment, underwriting, and plan-change rules can vary by product and circumstance.

Start with your general goals and any current coverage information you have. Keep Medicare numbers, prescription details, health information, and other sensitive information out of a standard contact form.

Benefits, costs, provider access, formularies, and policy terms can vary between options and may change over time. Review current official plan or policy materials before making a decision.
